The artificial sod industry has taken the lead in making sure its products are safe. A national agency studied the problem for seven years. It then said that fake grass is “OK to install, OK to play on.” One thing it didn’t check is the crumb rubber infill that many suppliers use. But this is not a concern when you choose Watersavers. We don’t stock and we don’t promote the use of crumb rubber. You always know that every inch of our turf products is completely lead-free.

Which labs do we use?

• Lead testing is done by TraceAnalysis Inc. in Lubbock, Texas. Over the past 20 years, it has done more than $100 million worth of testing.
• TSI in Dalton, Ga., tests for fire risks They conduct not just one test but two.
• Labosport in France does several types of testing. One of them simulates years of wear and tear in just a few days. They also test for UV resistance.

We Double-Check for Fire Risk

Safety comes first at Watersavers, which is why we double-check for fire risk. We want to know that our synthetic turf won’t catch on fire even if exposed to heat or flames, which is why we double-check for fire risk. We hired TSI in Dalton, Ga. to do two kinds of tests to double-check for fire risk:

• First, they see how thick the smoke is during a fire. All of our tests come in well below 450, which is the industry standard.

• Second, they find how much heat synthetic turf gives off when exposed to a flame or other fire source. Once again, our products always come in well below wat is considered safe.

The essential point is that our faux lawn products will not catch on fire.

We Test Artificial Turf for Fading

You want your faux lawn always to look as good as it does on the day you install it. This is why we test artificial turf for fading. Things like diseases, bugs, too much water, and too much sun can change the color of live lawn. We add UV resistance to the fiber of our faux lawn, so the color stays fast, even under sunny or harsh weather. Since the sun can be a problem, we test artificial turf for fading. The good news is that because we test artificial turf for fading, our products keep a lush green shade and continue to look great for 20 to 25 years.
