Artificial Turf Makes Seasonal Lawn Care Easy

November 21, 2016

A good-looking lawn is one of the best ways to relax on your property. The problem is, with so much lawn care to be done, it can be tough to find the time to enjoy it. As the seasons change, there is a list of chores that must get done to keep your real lawn looking its best. There’s raking, weeding, mowing, watering, and plenty of other tasks. That’s why more people have decided to install artificial turf instead. No matter what the season, upkeep is always simple. Keep the leaves off of it during the fall. Maybe shovel the snow away in the winter. In the summer, well, just enjoy it.

A real grass lawn needs constant care throughout the seasons. Artificial turf, on the other hand, looks good all year long, without doing much. This makes it a lot easier to enjoy. Watersavers Turf, a premier faux grass distributor, makes faux lawns even more enjoyable by offering the top-quality turf products.

Synthetic Turf Saves Homeowners Money

Being ready for the changing seasons means being ready to spend a lot of money. Different tasks require different tools, and you need to make sure you have what you need to care for your real grass lawn. With synthetic turf, though, there’s a very short list of tools needed to keep it looking great. A leaf blower will be useful to keep it clean. Maybe a rake to distribute any infill that was carried away by a hard rain. Not much else, though.

Unlike a real grass lawn, synthetic turf doesn’t make you spend money year after year on lawn care. This gives property owners more money to spend on other things because synthetic turf cuts their expenses by a wide margin.

How to Maintain Real Grass

No matter what season is coming up, if you have live sod, you need to be ready to spend money. You need to know how to maintain real grass to keep it looking healthy all year long.

After the winter, you need to make sure your mower blades are ready to cut the grass. This involves having them sharpened. You should also invest in a backup set, just in case. This can run about $20.

The mower needs a tune up in the spring which will run $3 to $5 for new spark plugs and $5 to $10 for an air filter. You’ll need fresh gas as well for a gas-powered mower. Also, the height of the mower blades will need to be adjusted depending on the month of the year. When it gets warmer in the summer, the grass blades will need to be longer so that they don’t burn. All these costs add up. So, does the time it takes just to maintain your mower.  None of which would be a concern with faux grass. Maybe you’d even have some money left over for a nice summer trip.

Lawn Disease Is Not an Issue with Faux Grass

Then there’s lawn disease. Grubs can be one of the culprits. After they have been dealt with, and more chemicals are used, there’s the task of reseeding the spots that are now dead and brown. The pH Level of the soil needs to be tested to help figure out which products are needed to green up the grass. Faux grass, however, would always stay green.

Mowing the lawn also produces lawn clippings. These can be used for mulch in the garden if there are no diseases in the lawn. When throwing them away, they are heavy and can take up a lot of space in the trash bin. For those with grass allergies, it could be a nightmare.

The lawn needs to be checked for proper aeration and dethatching. When the soil becomes compacted or thatch builds up, it chokes off the lawn from getting the nutrients it is being fed and prevents new growth.

To keep real grass looking green and lush, it will need to be sprayed and fertilized.  This adds chemicals to the environment and is costly.

Finally, when your lawn is in good condition, there are weeds to pull. They are particularly bad in the spring. Crabgrass and other grassy weeds can invade an otherwise beautiful lawn. To get rid of this weed and others, you will need to add even more chemicals around your home.

Faux Grass Requires No Care Through the Seasons

Wouldn’t you love to save all that time and money? When you install faux grass, you not only save time and money, you also save your family’s health by getting rid of weeds and the use of chemicals. Also, maintenance is a just a matter of raking debris now and then or using a blower. That’s all it takes to keep your yard looking great, leaving you with time to do the things you enjoy.
